NYTimes – “It’s no shock that we can’t tell what the Botoxed are feeling. But it turns out that people with frozen faces have little idea what we’re feeling, either. No, Botox injections don’t zap brain cells. (At least not so far as we know.) According to a new study by David T. Neal, an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Southern California, and Tanya L. Chartrand, a professor of marketing and psychology at the Duke University Fuqua School of Business, people who have had Botox injections are physically unable to mimic emotions of others. This failure to mirror the faces of those they are watching or talking to robs them of the ability to understand what people are feeling, the study says.”
If you’ve ever watched any of The Real Housewives of Wherever, this probably doesn’t come as a surprise to you. Clearly botox not only makes you look like you’re stuck in a wind tunnel, but now there’s some evidence that suggests it negatively affects your ability to convey feelings within your relationships.
It’s more than just making you look like you’re emotionless, over time you stand the chance of actually becoming an emotional zombie. I’ve dated one of those (not a result of botox) and I’ll tell you right now it’s not something you want to be.
You: “Hey Grandma, my kitten was hit by a car yesterday.”
Grandma (post-botox): “LOL.”
Instead of having chemicals and butt tissues injected into your skin, take a gentle approach to beauty with an all-natural regimen. I have been using grapeseed oil on my skin as an eye makeup remover and moisturizer for about a year, and aside from making my skin acne free, smooth and perfectly balanced, it is free of chemicals and loaded with vital skin nutrients.
Antioxidants, vitamin C and natural oil properties are thought to reduce wrinkles, a permanent solution that is surely safer and more effective than the temporary effects of chemicals. An $8 bottle of grapeseed oil has completely changed my skin for the better, even lightening scars, and I tell everyone I know about how incredible it is.
With natural beauty products such as grapeseed oil you won’t end up looking like Joan Rivers. Maybe her lack of empathy is why she’s so mean and obnoxious?
