The trailer for Matt Damon’s new ‘fracking’ film, or rather anti-fracking film, ‘Promised Land’ has just been released.
The synopsis goes a little something like this: “A salesman for a natural gas company (Damon) experiences life-changing events after arriving in a small town, where his corporation wants to tap into the available resources”. No doubt Damon’s character eventually sees the error of his misguided ways, helped along by the local community and a love interest (Rosemarie DeWitt). Just a guess.
The film is co-written by Damon and John Krasinski, and apparently based on a draft by Dave Eggers, who wrote the screenplay for ‘Where the Wild Things Are”. The film is directed by Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting and Milk).
There are high hopes for this film, with those involved set to hold some exclusive screenings in New York and Los Angeles on December 28th, so Promised Land can be considered for the 2013 Academy Awards. The film will get a wider release in January 2013. As you can imagine, “Oscar buzz” has already been mentioned in the entertainment media more than once.
From the trailer, do you think Promised Land looks like it’s going to be good? Let us know.
