You might have seen the embedded video, ‘The Climate Name Change’, doing the rounds over the couple few days. It certainly seems to have struck a social media chord, with over a million YouTube views already. The tongue-in-cheek video proposes that extreme storms should now be named after politicians “who deny climate change and obstruct climate policy”.
The video gets the point across in a cutting yet entertaining way by having news reports stating things such as “Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann is incredibly dangerous. If you value your life, please seek shelter from Michele Bachmann” and “now an entire nation is wondering how they will ever recover from the disaster that is James Inhofe”. As we’ve previously reported, Inhofe is the infamous climate change denying senator from Oklahoma who has previously referred to climate change as the “greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American peopleâ€.
Climate Name Change is asking people who agree that dangerous storms should be named after policy makers to sign this petition.
