People are comparing the Credit Suisse buyout in 2023 to Bear Stearns in 2007. 15 years ago (March 16th, 2008), JP Morgan bought Bear Stearns over the weekend for $2 per share, a 90% discount from Friday’s closing price. Now, UBS is offering to buy Credit Suisse for almost a 90% discount from Friday’s $2 close i.e. ~$.27 per share.
People are wondering if there will there be a next domino to fall, or will that be the end of the banking crisis this time?
