Mark Cuban recently shared his thoughts on the introduction of ChatGPT and its similarity to the early days of HTML and the Internet. In a tweet, he wrote: “Introduction of ChatGPT is so similar to HTML and the Internet early days. Everyone knew it would be impactful but we made it seem far more complicated than it was.”
Cuban goes on to compare the perception of those who learned HTML and built websites for businesses in the early days of the Internet to the current perception of those using ChatGPT and other large language models (LLMs). He writes: “Any kid that learned html and built websites for businesses was considered a tech genius. It’s the same with using ChatGPT/LLMs. It will go from being perceived as difficult, to being recognized as being fundamental and used by everyone.”
Cuban encourages experimentation with ChatGPT and other LLMs, stating that it is easy to try and experiment with. He concludes his tweet by saying: “It’s easy to try and experiment with. If you haven’t. You should.”
Cuban’s tweet highlights the potential impact of ChatGPT and other LLMs on the tech industry and beyond. As these technologies become more widely understood and utilized, their potential for innovation and disruption will only continue to grow.
